Trade Ideas alert hygiene: reduce repeats, control spam, keep alerts usable

If your Alert Window feels unusable, it’s rarely because the idea is bad. It’s almost always because the window is too broad and fires on garbage — or fires the same symbol repeatedly.

This guide is a practical checklist you can run any time alerts feel noisy.

Checklist 1: Define a lane (don’t alert on the entire market)

Your first job is to stop your alert from being eligible to fire on junk.

Lane basics: - Price range - Liquidity (ADV / Volume Today / Dollar Volume) - Optional float constraint

Start here: - Filters that matter - Liquidity filters - Float / short float

Checklist 2: Restrict the session (Time of Day)

If you only act in the morning, don’t let alerts fire in the afternoon.

Checklist 3: Control repeats (per-symbol frequency)

Most “spam” is the same symbol firing over and over because: - the condition repeats - the stock is chopping in/out of a threshold

In the Alert Config window (commonly under Select Alerts), look for controls that limit frequency, such as: - “once per symbol per day” style settings - per-symbol repeat / re-alert settings

Alert Config: repeat/frequency controls

If you don’t see a perfect “cooldown” option, the fallback is still effective: - tighten your lane - tighten your time - remove borderline conditions

Checklist 4: Use columns to triage faster

If you can’t decide quickly, you’ll feel like alerts are “too much” even when they’re valid.

Add columns that answer: - Is it in my lane? - Is it active today? - What’s the context (gap/change/rel vol)?

Checklist 5: Split windows (don’t force one window to do everything)

If one window mixes: - premarket gappers - open-range breaks - midday mean reversion

…it becomes impossible to tune.

Build separate windows per session/workflow and keep each one narrow.

FAQ

What’s the fastest way to reduce noisy alerts in Trade Ideas?

Tighten liquidity first, then restrict Time of Day, then constrain float/price. Control repeats if the same symbol keeps firing.

Why does my alert keep firing the same symbol?

Many alert conditions can repeat as price crosses a threshold repeatedly. Control repeats in alert settings when available, or tighten the lane/time so borderline behavior is less eligible.
