Trade Ideas collaboration: stop “copy/paste trading” and link your workflow

Most beginners use Trade Ideas like this: 1. Build a list 2. Manually click symbols 3. Manually cross-check windows 4. Repeat forever

Collaboration (and linking) is how you turn that into a system: - your Top List drives your Chart - your Alert Window focuses your attention - your layout stays consistent day-to-day

What “collaboration” means in practice

Trade Ideas “Collaborate” is the fastest way to copy a window’s filter set and paste it into another window.

The core use case: - build a Top List (filters + lane) - copy the filters - paste them into an Alert Window (so your alerts only fire in that same lane)

Example workspace: Top List + Alert/History + Chart

Step 1 — Copy the window’s filters (Collaboration URL)

  1. Right-click the source window (Top List or Alert Window)
  2. Click Collaborate…

Right-click a window and choose Collaborate

  1. Click Copy All

Collaborate dialog: Copy All (shares filters/settings)

Important: custom symbol lists may not be included

If the dialog warns that a custom symbol list won’t be shared, you’ll need to share that list separately (or recreate it) on the receiving side.

Step 2 — Paste those filters into a target window

  1. Create/open the target window (e.g., an Alert Window)
  2. Right-click it → Collaborate…
  3. Click Paste All

This applies the copied filters to the target window. For Alert Windows, your alert condition stays, but the filter set gets replaced.

Collaborate dialog: Paste All (apply filters to the target window)

Step 3 — Save the result (so you don’t rebuild it)

Once your workflow is linked and the filters are correct, save the window/layout: - Trade Ideas Cloud tutorial

Collaboration copies filters. Linking syncs symbols between windows so your workflow feels “connected”: - click a symbol in Top List → chart updates - review an alert → chart updates

If you see “Symbol Linking Groups” or colored linking controls, set your Top List, Alert/History, and Chart to the same link group.

Troubleshooting (linking)

“My chart doesn’t update when I click symbols”

Common causes: - the windows aren’t in the same link group - the chart isn’t set to follow the link

“Alerts fire but nothing updates”

If you want the alert to drive focus: - confirm your alert window is linked to the window you’re watching - confirm you’re not filtering out the alert symbol in the receiving window
