What “collaboration” means in practice¶
Trade Ideas “Collaborate” is the fastest way to copy a window’s filter set and paste it into another window.
The core use case: - build a Top List (filters + lane) - copy the filters - paste them into an Alert Window (so your alerts only fire in that same lane)
Step 1 — Copy the window’s filters (Collaboration URL)¶
- Right-click the source window (Top List or Alert Window)
- Click
Collaborate…
- Click
Copy All
Important: custom symbol lists may not be included
If the dialog warns that a custom symbol list won’t be shared, you’ll need to share that list separately (or recreate it) on the receiving side.
Step 2 — Paste those filters into a target window¶
- Create/open the target window (e.g., an Alert Window)
- Right-click it →
Collaborate… - Click
Paste All
This applies the copied filters to the target window. For Alert Windows, your alert condition stays, but the filter set gets replaced.
Step 3 — Save the result (so you don’t rebuild it)¶

Link your windows (so symbols sync)¶
Collaboration copies filters. Linking syncs symbols between windows so your workflow feels “connected”: - click a symbol in Top List → chart updates - review an alert → chart updates
If you see “Symbol Linking Groups” or colored linking controls, set your Top List, Alert/History, and Chart to the same link group.
Troubleshooting (linking)¶
“My chart doesn’t update when I click symbols”¶
Common causes: - the windows aren’t in the same link group - the chart isn’t set to follow the link
“Alerts fire but nothing updates”¶
If you want the alert to drive focus: - confirm your alert window is linked to the window you’re watching - confirm you’re not filtering out the alert symbol in the receiving window
